Plumber and Electrician

The pulmber and electrician are working on our house at the moment.

We thought (and the estate agency said!!) the boiler is combi boiler. But!!! actually, the boiler is conventional boiler. We haven't had any knowledge about boiler and we did not know it. We noticed that there was a water tank next to the bath room but still we did not know the boiler is not combi boiler!

So we called some plumbers and asked quotes about removing the water tank ... then find out that our boiler is not combi boiler. We decided to change it to combi boiler. Also, all radiators are very old. They are not energy efficient at all. We wanted to change them as well...

Oddly, the previous boiler was in the bath room. We wanted to move it to outside of the bathroom too.

In addition, we need to re-wire all electric cables. We know it from the validation survey... We asked electricians for some quotations and chose the good electric company to do all the jobs. We haven't expected such big jobs!

This is the dining room... removed all ceiling. I will write about the wall and ceiling in the next post. (we haven't expected this big job neither...)

  1. Sorry to hear about your frustration with the initial job. Its not a nice thing being lied to about something like that especially if the renovations are going to be such a mission to perform. Rewiring and having to remove the whole ceiling is a nightmare. I hope they do a good job and you are happy with the outcome.

    1. Thank you for your comment! Our apologies not to be able to reply so soon, we didn't update the blog for long time... It's been while since the whole job is done, very happy we've done before moving in! Next time, we would put more power sockets everywhere in the room. We thought that's enough but now we think it would be nice to have more. As for the boiler, we didn't know anything about it and had no idea until we search. I can imagine many first buyer have similar experience like us.

  2. Hi Caramellino. Just caught up with your blog and progress. Good idea to go for a combi boiler and get the radiators changed too. We did that and haven't looked back. The new ones are much more efficient and it was better to get the mess all over and done with in one go. Look forward to seeing the results.

    1. Hi Lovella, thank you for your comment and reading our blog! We are happy about our combi boiler and new radiators. It was bigger expenses than we had expected but we are glad that all is done before moving in. Now we still continue the small jobs (very slowly!) Never finish.
